isitadrydaytoday.lol is a small, independently run tool that answers one question: is alcohol legally on sale where you are, today. It was built by Armeet, a web developer based in Pune, after one too many wasted trips to a shuttered wine shop on a holiday nobody had mentioned.

It covers every Indian state and union territory, plus country-level rules across the Middle East, South and Southeast Asia, Europe and the Americas. India is the focus, since dry day rules there change by state, by festival and by election schedule.

How the data works

Answers are drawn from three layers, in priority order: a live override sheet for recently announced changes (like election dry days), crowdsourced reports from visitors, and a static rules database covering national holidays, state-specific dry days, and country-level alcohol law for India, the Middle East, South and Southeast Asia, and beyond.

The static rules are compiled from publicly available government notifications and excise department publications. Lunar-calendar-based dates (such as Thailand's Buddhist holy days) are reconfirmed and updated each year.

Limitations

This is an informational tool, not a legal reference. Local enforcement can vary, and last-minute government orders — especially election-related dry days — may not always be reflected in time. Always check with your local store or municipal authority before making plans.
